Ruth started her career as a journalist for the Big Issue before moving into corporate communications. Since then Ruth has looked after media relations, internal communications and crisis management for such international companies as United Airlines and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts.
Her most memorable day at work was September 11th, 2001 when United Airlines lost two aircraft. That day Ruth was looking after United Airline's media desk for the UK and Europe. She feels her crisis management skills came to the fore that day, having to remain calm under the immense pressure that fateful day caused.
Ruth's consultancy work has included work for SAAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association), SUSTRANS and Ecover.
Ruth's role with Podcastmatters Ltd includes managing client expectations, advising clients on internal media communication and develop new media communication strategies.
In her spare time Ruth enjoys traveling and sleeping when her daughter allows.
